Randy Bacon is awesome. I should say that because he took my picture, hence the new profile pic you see on this page. But let me tell you something about him. He and his wife Shannon are NEAT-O. Very cool, very warm, and they are bringing a lot of cool things to Springfield and the Ozarks. And Cassie, who is also a photographer, is incredibly friendly and talented.
There is something magical and yet terrifying about getting your picture taken. And sometimes, even vain. But pictures capture a moment in time, and I figured, what the heck. I am having a great year so far, and I wanted my dang picture taken.
Last year was awful--my dad had a brain tumor, and both he and my mother got laid off from their jobs. It was very stressful and scary for us, so I am on cloud 9 that things are finally settling down.
Anyway, I think we should always share great experiences or stories about people and places in the Ozarks. Randy Bacon Photography is one of them.
So here's to you Randy, Shannon, and Cassie, and everybody else in the studio: Thank you.

Stunning. Wonderful. Creative. Shiny. (Talking about Randy, that is). =)
Of course, Michelle, you look mahhhh vellous.
Great shot.
Dave--where are your pictures? You've got them somewhere!
So, is this a KY3 thing? Did you guys get free pics?
No, this wasn't affiliated with KY3 at all. I wanted to take some professional pictures because I need them for some work I do outside the station. I believe we used to have a contract with Randy--at least, the anchors used to get their headshots by him...but I think we did away with that. I wish we got free pictures, but we have a station policy really not to get anything free. Some stations do trades for hair and clothes, but we pay for our own expenses. Financially it would be nice to have some expenses paid since there is constant maintenance (haircuts, highlights, suit jackets, etc.), but all in all, it's more ethical for us to not be interlocked with anyone.
I had an opportunity once to ask Randy Bacon what he does to make everyone look like they are having the best time of their lives while he takes their picture. He very modestly said that each subject he photographs has it within themselves what shines through. But it's very obvious that he has a way of finding it and bringing it out. Very lovely Michelle!
I hope 2007 is a very good year for you and your family.
Great picture. Wish I photographed that well. i always look fat and drunk in photos.
LOVE the pics, Michelle. btw, unless you were just being sarcastic, might want to check your age in the profile.
Thanks Jill! I was actually just being sketchy about my age!
LOL, Michelle, I thought maybe you were just feeling really old and tired when you typed that in!
I was! But that's another issue!!
