My New Favorite Song

You know how one song just sticks in your head and you can't get it to stop? Yea, this is it.

It started last week when we saw Harold and Kumar (see below) and I saw the preview for Pineapple Express (also below)!

Which brings me to another cool subject--this CD can be found at the Springfield-Greene County Library. All I did was go to COOLcat and put it on hold. It should arrive on the Park Central shelf in a couple of days, and boom, I got a new CD to burn, sucka.

Embarassing Moment No. 1389

This morning at the library, I went to the bathroom. As usual, I made a toilet seat with my toilet paper. I mean, it is a public bathroom. No big whoop.

Five seconds later, I washed my hands and headed out the door. Again, no big whoop.

Then, a few minutes later, I noticed a young girl following me. She looked at me, then she looked away. We were making weird eye contact--the kind you might see in a Seinfeld episode (note: this is how I base my life... I always say, "it was like I was in a Seinfeld episode!")

Anyway, she finally approached me.

Maybe she had a question. Maybe she recognized me from the news. Maybe she needed me to do something for her...

I looked at her with that anticipation...like, "yes?" She leaned over and whispered, "Excuse me, you have a piece of toilet paper hanging out of your pants. I just wanted to tell you before anyone saw it."

ARGH!

I pulled it out from the top of my pants, said thank you, and ran away. The sad thing is that it happened to me once when I worked at KY3, too. I can't help it if I like to make toilet seats! At least it wasn't the paper I used. Ek.

Harold and Kumar Escape From My Mind...Please!

Jim and I set a date for a dinner and a movie on Friday night. We had decided earlier that night that we would see either Baby Mama (because we love Tina Fey, y'all!) or Forgetting Sarah Marshall...

BUT, at last minute (and after a few cups of sake) Jim was insistent that we watch Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Who am I marrying, a 19-year-old?!

Anyway, we saw it. He owes me.

It actually wasn't bad. Aside from all the farting and pot-smoking jokes, the comedic timing was pretty good, not that I'm an expert or anything. I mean, there are just some movies that I think are funny but still don't "get" until the 2nd and 3rd times I watch them (like Anchorman).

Anyway, no offense to Harold and Kumar... I just had my heart set on Tina. Besides, I'm a big fan of John Cho.

Anyway, one highlight of going to the movies was seeing the previews. I can't wait to see Pineapple Express when it comes out!

Korean Baby Hits a High Note with me!

And for some happier news... I'm a little partial to Korean babes, but this is one cool kid. I can't wait to have one of these little monkeys!

At first, he says in Korean, "Anyounghaseyo, kamsahamnida!" (That's hello and thank you!)

Terrible, terrible, terrible

If you have been watching the news, you may know this story already. A skydiving plane crashed this weekend in Mount Vernon. Two people died--one staffer of Freefall Express got caught on the tail of the plane and another staffer was found inside the plane.

My heart goes out to everyone involved.

Without being morbid, I know many people are asking, what happened?? My heart breaks everytime I think about the woman who became entangled on the tail... what did she go through? And what about the staffer who didn't jump--was it because she didn't have the chance? Was the force of the descending plane too strong for her to move?
Was she just too scared?

There's apart of me that wonders if the staffers stayed behind to make sure the other four jumped to safety. I just have it in my mind that they were being heroic...

It's terrible. Absolutely terrible.

I won't do this all the time, but--

As many of you know, I started a new project to get people to live healthier-- I'm pretty excited about Friday's post! Check it out...
By the way, it's not a website for brides, it's just inspired by them. Everyone can use the information we're gathering!

National Library Workers Day!

Today is National Library Workers Day.

NLWD is a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers... give them a hug!

Personally, I have a new appreciation for library workers. Why, you ask? Because I AM ONE!!

Yes, I've taken on a new job. It's part-time, (and I'm still working at KSPR...) but I am proud to be apart of the group that helped open the new Park Central Library in downtown Springfield!! It is totally cool.

me, Alan, Grace, Aleah, Julie, Jazy

My co-workers are smart, funny, creative, plus, they love to help people. Aleah, my branch supervisor, even said that I have a knack for being a librarian (or something like that... probably because of all of my fierce google searches). That's nice to hear, though, because she got her masters in library science, and dumb ole me is struggling to figure out Mobius, the interlibrary loan system, and COOLcat. See, there's a lot to learn about libraries!

Anyway, come by and see us! Our little claim to fame is having newer material, more newspapers, and a modern bookstore vibe. We're also attached to The Coffee Ethic, my new favorite place to grab a cup of joe!
Makes me wonder... why is there no national day to appreciate journalists? At least today, the library gave me a nice, round chocolate chip cookie. It smelled sooo good... needless to say, I didn't eat it.

A NEW PROJECT

I am working on a new project, and I'd like the support of my fellow bloggers. Let me pull an exerpt:

"I will say it's fitting to mention that it's 1 a.m. and I have the munchies. Hmph. Anyway, it's time to lose those flabby arms, stomach pooches, and of course, the back-butt."
To find out more on what the heck I'm talking about, please click here. I'm too tired to write more than that!

Feels Good to Be a Champion

I was joking with Jim this morning... I said, "So, it feels pretty good to wake up a champion."

KU made me really nervous last night, but overall it was an interesting game, and my favorite team came out on top!

B-I-N-G-O

If you haven't BINGOED in a while, you must give it another whirl.
Jim and I went to the American Legion on Friday on a whim..

Here were the TOP 6 surprises--

1. It's pretty cheap. It cost us $6 each for a half sheet.

2. The food is pretty good. Who knew?
And more than affordable...
another 6 bucks for a grilled cheese, a turkey club, french fries, and two drinks.

3. The prizes. Every game is at least $175... but some went up to $1000!!!

4. The dobbing. Everyone likes dobbing their bingo cards with that ink.

5. They serve beer. I didn't drink, but it made the night more lively for Jim.

6. The excitement of getting this close to winning the big game...

This is Jim's sad, but exciting bingo card

Jim almost won the blackout round! It would've brought in a nice chunk of change, probably $450 or something, if he was the only one who had a BINGO. He was so excited when we were playing, and it was so fun to watch him get excited like a little kid!

We also sat by this really cute lady who helped us out, and overall, everyone was really friendly. We needed some help at first getting the cards and finding out which color-coded card was for which game...

Overall, a great Friday night!! I would suggest doing it. I spent $20 and couldn't have done anything better that evening.

We're going to go back for sure!

So You is Closing...

I wish I knew why, but more importantly, I hope that Thuy has something fabulous up her couture sleeve! Go shopping and support her while you can! Good luck, Thuy!
