My Best Friend's Wedding

My great single friends are dying off one by one...
and sooner than later, I'll be falling right behind them.
The new Mrs. Davis and the soon-to-be Mrs. Van Dillen

Great arms, great feet. Mr. and Mrs. Tanner Davis cuttin' a rug.

I actually had such a blast at this wedding. Weddings really have become so much fun during the last few years because all of my really good friends have been getting married... so they're just more special these days.

Downtown Kansas City at the Muehlbach.

I was sweaty and I broke my shoes. Kewl.

Love the hands on the hip!

Lucy and Tanner live near Washington, D.C. They work for the government doing really cool things, and they have a beagle named Gertrude... Gertie for short. I miss them very much! Lucy was my roommate in college for four semesters, and I couldn't tell any stories about our friendship during my toast because they were all inappropriate. Gotta love it!

It's our turn soon!

Watch out World

My maid of honor just got a pretty cool job, and I wanted to wish her congratulations! Lucy McShane is now an Assistant Attorney General in Washington, D.C. Yep, she's prosecuting people. Watch out!! I'm very proud of her. Few women are like LGM. I miss her in MO!

A Naked Lady and Sushi

My friend Leah took this picture!

I just got back from a heck of a trip--from SGF to KC to Wichita to STL to SGF. Today was really the first day I had a breather...

But let me tell you what I did the other night!! I ate sushi off a naked lady.

What, you ask?

Jim semed very interested when I told him this.

I went to this place called Nara (in Kansas City) with Lucy since it was her last weekend before moving to D.C. Apparently, it was the restaurant's one year anniversary, and they were celebrating. The place kind of reminded me of Kai in downtown, only with a bigger bar feel.

Anyway, I was seated when I turned around and saw a boob. It was a lady getting undressed to lay on a table. She had a robe on, but it just popped out. Then this guy put some banana leaves all over her to cover her up...

Long story short, I ate the sushi. What can I say? It was there...but does anyone else see this as kind of weird? I mean, the last thing I want to do is go to a place to eat raw fish and see a naked boob. Brings a whole new outlook to ordering tuna. Yes, I said it.

I've been gone

I have been so busy lately, as most people are. I really don't have a lot to say, but I was getting tired of looking at my last post.

So since then and now...here's what I've done.

  • Went to Kansas City, played blackjack. Lost.
  • Hung out with my best friends Lucy and Leigh
  • Started moving out of my house. Yup, finally leaving the Rountree neighborhood. It's been fun.
  • Gave my beat-up Honda Civic to my parents. Now driving my mom's rollerskate. I like it.
  • Helped plan a baby shower.
  • Painted a kitchen. Tried to put glaze on the walls, too. Worried that it might look like someone threw up red wine, but my boyfriend assures me that it looks great.
  • Started a new diet. My stomach hurts and I want to eat more bread.

SINGLE AWARENESS DAY

Did you have a great Valentine's Day? Or did it stink like rotten eggs? My best friend used to call it Single Awareness Day, and then she got herself a serious boyfriend. We still hate it. Commercial holidays are ridiculous.

Disclaimer: Not meant to offend anyone who loves St. Valentine's Day or anyone who may make money off products meant to celebrate St. Valentine's Day.

I was in bed by 10:30 pm. Crazy.

OMG, I AM AN OLD BITTY

My best friend Lucy

My best friend's little sister started classes at our old alma mater, the University of Kansas. This is huge.

Lucy, Franny, Michelle

So, I decided to take a vacation day and head to Lawrence, Kansas. Honestly, Lucy and I were ready to party like we did before we legally could. However, there was a problem. This weekend we discovered that we are old bitties.

I can't believe it.

After two cocktails (with cheap alcohol in plastic cups), we pootered out.

I woke up the next morning with a hangover-feeling because I had been up for 22 hours the night before (thanks to the ungodly hours I work at KY3.) Lucy woke up equally crappy because she didn't get her normal 8-hours-of-sleep.

Old bitties.

It is rather fun getting older and wiser, but it was such a comical and yet, enlightening weekend.

When Lucy's younger sister Franny was 10, she used to put on my shoes and tromp around my dorm room...now she's schooling us on what goes in college! I hope she enjoys these next few years at KU because one day she'll realize she's too old to go back---

My Best Friend

Someone "anonymously" posted a comment as to why there is no picture of my best friend. Well, her name is Lucy, and she is a defense attorney in Kansas City, Missouri, but she can practice law in Kansas and Missouri. I would know, I wrote her a recommendation to take the bar exam. She is truly an amazing woman, and I guess "anonymous" can rest easy now...
