A YouTube Channel is Born: Minnie the Rottweiler
And guess who it's about? Shockingly... our rottweiler, Minnie!
This is her first appearance on her new YouTube channel. It is of her howling like a hound dog... singing with her accompaniment provided by a harmonica. It was the greatest press kit snag that ever came into our newsroom.

One Year of Marriage: DONE
I can't believe it's already been a year! It has gone by so fast. It's a cliche, but it is true.
Where do I begin? First of all, it's tough to be married. Not really, but kind of. The saying is that the first year is always the hardest, and I guess I would believe it because it involves so much change. Merging of bank accounts, interests, and goals can get kind of tricky when you've spent the last three decades or so acting independently.
My co-worker and friend, Joanna Small, calls it becoming a "one-brain." A-ha.
Anyway, we've done a lot this last year:
1. Bought a house.
2. Adopted a dog.
3. Planned a second wedding. (Okay, still planning)
It doesn't seem like a lot, but those three things are really big in my book. Minnie, our baby rottweiler, is like a little person. I just love her and don't want to be away from her.
Our house is madness. I can't keep up with the housework, we need to repaint and do some maintenance, and make it our own. And a second wedding... well, it comes with a lot. Planning a trip overseas, working two or three extra jobs to get extra money quickly, and withdrawing yourself from society to save money sure has felt time consuming and stressful.
BUT WE LOVE IT! I mean, we love our life together, anyway. We complain about a lot, but the truth is, we have decent jobs, a nice house, a great dog, our health, a wonderful family... In general, we live without worry, and we often take it forgranted.

Our schedules just don't mix well this week with my moonlighting... so on our anniversary, Jim laid out a line of rose petals from the front door to the kitchen. When I walked to the end, he was on one knee and asked me to marry him again--in Korea! I laughed because it was so sweet... and a little out of character for him. He also gave me one rose and joked that I'd get two next year.
Then, he took me to dinner at Ocean Zen (the same place we went after we got engaged.)
After dinner, Jim surprised me by taking me to the Walnut Street Inn! Awesome!! We woke up this morning and ate spiced french toast, sausage and fruit. We sipped on hot tea and coffee... Then, after about 10 minutes of a nice, calm morning, we rushed home and went to work. We had such joy for such a short time! But it was such a great way to celebrate.
The funny thing is that we're going to pick-up celebrating again on Friday... only this time, I have a suprise for Jim. I wish I could share it, but he is a blog reader! ha!
I'll write about it after it happens because honestly, I think what we're doing will be really interesting to a lot of people! I already spilled the beans to some people at work, and they were looking into doing themselves!

Video of Won Hoo!
My sister, Hyun Jeong, just put this on her blog! It is of our nephew, Won Hoo. Won Hoo is celebrating his first birthday in this picture! Watch the video!!
Won Hoo is the first grandchild for the Park family and is the son of my younger sister, Yeon Jeong.
If you've lost track, I have three sisters: Hyun Mi, Hyun Jeong, and Yeon Jeong. I am between Hyun Jeong and Yeon Jeong (my birth name was Hyun Sook, though, I don't believe that is a family name.)
I can't wait to go to Korea with Jim in 4 weeks!

Someone Stole My Scooter!!!
OMG!
I woke up this morning because there was a knock on my door. I didn't recognize who it was, and I was half asleep, so I ignored it.
Then, a few minutes later, I decided to get out of bed and go to the gym. As I walked outside, I realized my scooter was gone.
I ran back inside. I called for Jim. "Did you put the scooter away last night?" No.
Damn.
So, then I called the police. The woman on the phone asked for a VIN number since the scooter doesn't have a license plate (49cc.) I had to go the bank to the safe deposit box to grab the VIN number and the policy information.
When I got back home, the same man who knocked on the door at 8:00 a.m., was talking outside to my husband. Turns out, he's our neighbor and found my scooter while walking his dog. I asked, "How do you know it's our scooter?" He said it's because it's pretty distinct.
So, Jim and I said thanks and drove to the location where our neighbor found the scooter. There it was-- on its side, in an alley.
The scooter had been hijacked. Someone tried to hot wire it, and the ignition was a mangled mess of metal. I couldn't get my key inside the ignition to start it. Plus, there was structural damage--I saw many scratches and scrapes, including the seat, which I thought was a bit odd, even for thieves. Since I couldn't get it started, I had to walk the scooter home in the rain this morning.
I called the police and made a report. Then, I called the insurance and made a claim. Great.
I just need to say a couple of things:
1) I thought my stuff was safe in my neighborhood.. Rountree is such a quite, cute place to live.
2) Jim thinks they scoped out my bike because they obviously had the tools ready to steal my bike. Jim said they probably knew what time I got home and everything. And that would make sense since my bike has recently been parked in the front because of its frequented use.
3) Since it was stolen and found in my neighborhood, I'm guessing that someone near my neighborhood or inside my neighborhood stole it. Jim got a suspicious vibe when he saw a certain group of people watching him this morning pick up the pieces of the bike strewn across the alley.
4) I feel really violated! Seriously! There's just something about someone taking your stuff from your yard... that REALLY gets your blood boilin'. Infuriating! I wish we could've caught the knuckleheads in the act! Or better yet, I wish Minnie would've caught them. ARGH.
AND YES, I HAVE ASKED THAT CHARGES BE FILED! The police asked me if I would press charges, and I said yes. But from a journalistic standpoint, doesn't a prosecutor press charges? I feel like that's something they only say in the movies... but who cares... I WILL ENCOURAGE THAT CHARGES BE FILED.
I can't stand thievery. Those turds outta be ashamed of themselves.
